Tri Cities LCC Wetlands Application Information
A SINCERE THANK YOU!!
The time for sending comments to the Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE) regarding the wetlands destruction permit requested by Tri-City Properties (APPLICATION # 05R0222) ended at 3 PM this afternoon. I feel confident that a sizeable number of comments were submitted. Mayor Meyra Oberndorf from Virginia Beach sent comments as well as Councilman Peter Schmidt, a Virginia Beach , City Councilman. Peter Schmidt was a former Director of DEQ under Governor George Allen. Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Citizens for Stumpy Lake also submitted comments. I am also aware of at least of another dozen persons that sent comments.
To all those who sent comments I would like to sincerely thank each an everyone of you and our children and our children’s children will be eternally grateful for our efforts. Also our neighbors and fellow citizens will also appreciate our efforts.
I sincerely believe that common sense will prevail and the wetlands will be preserved. I fully expect Tri-City will not simply fade away. We will have to keep up our vigilance and stand ready to do this again.
I spoke to Mr. Robert Berg at ACOE and our comments will be evaluated and Public hearings may be held regarding this matter or, better yet, the application may just be simply denied. I don’t think the latter is a likely outcome but it’s possible. It probably wouldn’t hurt for us to call ACOE periodically to let them know we’re watching, willing and able to muster up our forces and break out the poison pens again if necessary.
Once again my sincere thanks an appreciation to everyone that helped.
Sincerely,Vice President, Citizens For Stumpy Lake

Please help fight this permit! Wetlands Watch will be submitting a letter to the corps. We ask that you please do the same and let Citizens for Stumpy Lake know of this permit if they do not already. Thank you very much,Suzanne Carroll, Wetlands Watch
